Message from our County Commissioner
As we move into the New Year I am thinking about the fantastic challenges and opportunities that lie ahead for our members this year.
Four of our young people have been selected to take part in LaSER trips to Africa, India and Peru and nine girls will attend the Scouts Centenary Jamboree. All will have the opportunity to meet with young people from other parts of the world, to make new friendships, share different cultures and have fun.
Our youngest members will celebrate 21 Years of Rainbow Guides at Paultons Park and every Rainbow in the County will be offered the opportunity to take part.
All members will enjoy a wide and varied programme and many girls will have the chance to enjoy a Guiding holiday – camp, pack holiday, overnighter, trips abroad and develop new skills.
The above opportunities are possible for our young people because adults have volunteered their time. We are a voluntary youth movement and always welcome new volunteers. If you would like to join us please contact our website.
Best Wishes
Angela
Angela
entered guiding at the age of 8 with 4th Worthing Brownies and later
moved up to 4th Worthing Guides where she became a Queens Guide in
1963. From
there she moved up to become a member of Worthing Division Land Rangers
through until 1969, when she left to get married and took a break from Guiding.
Angela came back into Guiding in 1989 as Goring East District Commissioner, a post she held for 7 years. Following that she took on the role of Worthing Highdown Division Commissioner for the next 7 years, and she then became Assistant County Commissioner in 2003. Alongside all of this she has worked with all sections in Guiding.
Angela is married to Rob and has 2 sons, Richard and James and 2 grandchildren – Oliver and Jessica. She has worked for the Inland Revenue for 28 years. Her hobbies and interests, in addition to Guiding, include spending time with her family and her Border Collie, Max, and caravanning at home and abroad.
Angela is very much looking forward to her new role, the challenges and opportunities that it will bring and to meeting as many of you as possible over the next few months.
