Linking Gold Duke of Edinburgh's Award and Queen's Guide
With the launch of both the new D of E Award programme and the new Queen’s Guide syllabus, it is now even easier to link the 2 awards and work for them concurrently. However, you must plan them together form the start in the initial meeting with the Queen’s Guide mentor.

Outdoor ChallengeComplete the first 6 modules of the Senior Section Permit or the Camp and Holiday Scheme, if not already completed. Participate in a 4 day/3 night exploration or expedition. |

Skills Optional 12 or 6 months learning or improving a chosen skill. |
Skill DevelopmentA minimum of 12 months developing a new or existing skill which can include sporting skills. |

Recreation
Optional 12 or 6 months of regular commitment to any form of physical recreation. |

Community ActionOver 12 months undertake 2 projects – one practical and one research. |
Residential ProjectUndertake a shared activity away from home for 5 days/4 nights. (This could be 2 weekends, and not with more than 2 people known to you). |
Residential ExperienceParticipate in a residential experience lasting no less than 3 days, where the majority of the participants are unknown to you. |
*Direct entrants (who have not completed their Silver Award) also need to complete an additional 6 months on either of the 2 sections already followed for 12 months i.e. 18 months minimum completion time.
