A ‘Special Hello’ to you all from your County President
Yes
– this really is me – taken way back in the 1950s when I was a Guide in
Plumstead Common, South East London. My Guiding story began in the late 1940s
when I was a Brownie in Woolwich – a very keen Sprite – but sadly no photos to
prove it!
Since then, my Guiding life has gone from strength to strength and I have spent over 60 wonderful years belonging to this wonderful Guiding family.
What an enormous privilege it is for me to have been invited to become County President for Girlguiding Sussex West. I shall do my utmost to support the County and all its members in this wonderful game of Guiding.
I have been a member in 8 different counties across 4 different regions and enjoyed appointments as a leader with Rainbows, Brownies, Guides & Rangers as well as having Commissioner and Adviser roles. I just loved being a Trainer too. Now I am a Trefoil Guild member and my Guiding journey continues. I owe so much to that vision of BP all those years ago.
I have enjoyed so many wonderful Guiding moments, with some embarrassing ones too! If you’d like to find out what these were then why not purchase my book, written for my grand-daughters, Abiee and Louisa, in our Centenary year. In it you will find out, too, why I refused to sit down as a Brownie and, as a Guide, vowed never to camp again. Mars bars are still a passion of mine even after a very unfortunate incident at camp and cream cakes are now endured rather than enjoyed!
My Guiding journey started as a Sprite and now I promote the Dark Horse Venture as a Trefoil Guild member, which is why I’ve called my book ‘From Sprites to Dark Horses’. All profits from its sale are going to ‘Friends of Foxlease’. The book can be obtained from me (£7.99) or direct from the publisher: (£6.50 +£2.99p&p)

I wish you continued success with your Guiding and look forward to giving my support as your County President.
